A touch of spring, not fall, bloomed in Paris today as Clare Waight Keller showcase her latest Fall/Winter 2012 collection for Chloé. Nothing says spring quite like a largely-off-white array of silk blouses, pearls and lace flowers. The collection was a mix between English ease and French sophistication. “I’ve just come from London where there’s a different spirit,” Keller said backstage. “I love Paris, but the Chloe girl is somewhere in between.”

Hussein Chalayan has toned down his innovative fashions for something that is closer to reality . This showed in his Fall/Winter 2012 collections where his theme was based around everyday environments. “The collection reacts to different life situations,” said Chalayan during a preview. “If it’s a dark environment, the clothes are supposed to light it up. If it’s a domestic situation, it’s inspired by what you wrap around you at home.” His collection showcased graphic minimalism best seen in the Sixties. His bold color choices accentuated his architectural inspirations. It’s nice to see a promise of a colorful winter season from Chalayan!

Olivier Rousteing produced effortless couture for Balmain Fall/Winter 2012. His second showing in Paris for the fashion house had the audience yearning for his one of a kind pieces. He is on the way for restoring what the brand was once known for- elaborate hand-worked pieces, but with a relaxed spirit.
